Women’s History Month: Our Health Is Part of Our Legacy

March is Women’s History Month!
We celebrate the women who marched, prayed, built businesses, raised families, and broke barriers.
But here’s a question we don’t ask enough:
Who is taking care of us?
As Black and BIPOC women, we carry a lot. We are strong. Resilient. Resourceful. Faith-filled. But strength does not mean we are supposed to suffer in silence.
Many of us were raised to:
Push through pain
Ignore exhaustion
Put everyone else first
“Pray about it” but never go to the doctor
And while faith is powerful, so is prevention.
The Reality We Can’t Ignore
Black women are:
More likely to experience high blood pressure
More likely to develop diabetes
More likely to face complications during pregnancy
More likely to have our pain dismissed in healthcare settings
That is not a personal failure. That is a systems issue.
But while we continue to advocate for equity, we also have power in our daily choices.
This Month, Let’s Rewrite the Narrative
What if Women’s History Month became a turning point?
What if:
You scheduled that overdue checkup
You asked more questions at your next appointment
You started walking 20 minutes a day
You chose rest without guilt
You said no to protect your peace
Our grandmothers endured. We have the right to flourish. Health is not a matter of vanity. It is a legacy.
When we take care of our bodies and minds, we change the trajectory for our daughters, our sisters, and our communities.
A Simple Challenge for March
This month, choose ONE thing:
✔️ Schedule an appointment✔️ Get your labs checked✔️ Drink more water✔️ Move your body 3x a week✔️Join a small accountability group✔️ Join a wellness event
Just one.
Small steps create generational impact.
